Week 7 Tuesday: Local Internships

My first pick for a local internship would be Running Pony Productions. While being an intern here it looks like you would get a lot of hands on experience in post-production work. The tasks included would be logo animation, preparing content for video edits, compressing video, and making DVDs. A few alumni from our school have gone here and also from word-of-mouth it sounds like a nice local place that doesn't have an impossible demand. They supposedly are looking for interns year round. This company would allow me to utilize Photoshop, After Effects, and video editing and DVD building skills. They do not have salary compensation.

The next pick for a local internship would be True Story Pictures. They are also looking for a post-production assistant year round. Supposedly they'd utilize the same skills as Running Pony but when looking closer I noticed that they want someone knowledgeable with Word and good verbal and communication skills. It sounds like you would be less finalizing and making like Running Pony and more of filing and note taking for the production crew. Also they have paid internships for those who know Final Cut Pro and regular internships where one would learn Final Cut Pro.

The last pick for a local internship would be working on a web site for St. Jude Children's Hospital. This is not a paid internship either and it's only offered in the Fall and Spring. This would be a one time experience as well because they aren't looking for any new recruits unlike the previous two which would consider it. This job focuses mostly on Graphic Design and Web page design. I have some experience with Web design but this one is the least of projects that I feel confident in. I am curious about looking into designing web pages and trying to utilize that skill.

I was looking into IMC Studio Inc. as a possibility but they are based in Russellville, AK which is over a 200 mi. commute. They are apparently looking for interns year round so this could be a consideration for in the summer and living in AK. They don't pay interns but they are interested in hiring for full-time. Most of the work would be fantasy Concept Art for characters, costumes and environments. It doesn't look as if you'd animate at the intern level but your work would be the foundation that other projects would be based off of.
